Foundation and Members
The Inter-Regional Ergonomics Association (IREA) was founded (as the Soviet Ergonomics Association) in 1986. In 2007 there were about 200 members. IREA consists of six regional branches.

Activities
The IREA activity includes
- Promotion of ergonomics in Russia through cooperation with governmental bodies and organizations.
- Dissemination and sharing of good experience and standards in ergonomics.
- A biennial scientific conference Psychology and Ergonomics: Unity of Theory and Practice with published proceedings.
- Publication of scientific journal Human Factors: The Problems of Psychology and Ergonomics (since 1999).
- Provision of information through the website www.ergo-org.ru.
- Recognition of researchers and practitioners through awards (medal For Service in Research of Human Factors and honoured title Member of Academy of the problems of human factor).
- Setting the higher education standard on ergonomics to be approved by the Russian Educational Board.
