What is ergonomics?
including the official definition by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA)

The 2nd Month of Ergonomics (now adopted by the International Ergonomics Association in the form of a Global Ergonomics Month) gives a good reason for all of the national Ergonomics Societies seeking visibility and promoting ergonomics to the community.

The Communication & Promotion Committee of FEES invites and challenges all the European ergonomics societies to create activities during October.

  • The base of activities will be on those that different societies have already planned.
  • And perhaps we in different societies can also create something else, e.g.:
    • In co-operation with the national CREE assessment committees produce and spread information about the CREE certification for both the employers and ergonomists as well as ergonomics students.
    • Members of societies can write articles about ergonomics to the newsletters of enterprises and the societies can offer articles or a good back ground package of ergonomics for media in their own countries.
    • Some of societies have their annual conference or meetings in October. Perhaps it is possible to get now more publicity for these events.
    • Different kind of competitions can also rise interest in ergonomics.
    • … and there can be a lot of other kind of activities, that do not need big time or financial resources.

Please send information of planned activities to FEES web site to web master Dietmar Gude. He will gather all the activities on the FESS calendar.

For illustrative purposes, you can download a presentation (in powerpoint format) prepared by the Communication & Promotion Committee of FEES on Ergonomics in Risk Assessment. As event examples, currently we have information about the following activities of the national ergonomics societies:
