Activities - 2006 - PRS Ergonomie Award

PRS Award CeremonyThe 'PRS Ergonomie Award' is the only award in The Netherlands for remarkable and good ergonomics and its application, in order to pay attention to the various manifestations of ergonomics in day-to-day life.

The award was created on the occasion of the withdrawal of FEES President Pieter Rookmaaker as managing director of the consultancy agency Intergo to honour him for his efforts regarding the growth of ergonomics in The Netherlands.

It is the intention to award every 3 years; every time with a special theme. This year, it was given for the first time and the 2006 theme was traffic, transport and mobility.

ComfortizerThe jury, chaired by Jan Dul, designated as the winner of the PRS Ergonomie Award 2006 (€ 2500 and a trophy) the Amsterdam Public Transport Company (GVB) for the Comfortizer, presented by Roy Versteegen.

The aim of the Comfortizer is to improve the comfort for tramway-passengers during their journey. The comfort score, from 1 to 10, is displayed to the driver on the dashboard. The Comfortizer is an example of how to make public transport more attractive, both for the public and for the driver. It will contribute to making public transport more competitive with other modalities of transport.

Routefinding PanelRollator RedesignTwo other contributions (Dynamic Routefinding Panels by Matthias Dicke / University of Groningen and a redesign of a “rollator” by Heidi Evers / University of Technology Delft) received honourable mentions.

The award-ceremony took place on July 13th, during the congress of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) in Maastricht.
